Raising a child does not only mean to nurture them physically, but also to connect them with the reality of life, spirituality, positivity and to deal the challenges of life. Children should be raised with emotional and intellectual support.
Major goal of a good parenting is to develop positivity in your children. Make them realize that how precious our life is, motivate them to be strong to face the challenges of life instead of running away from them. Ending of life or turning back from the hard phase is not a solution to deal with it.
Children get majorly influenced by the family environment and the behavior of parents has towards them. Being a parent, you should be strict towards them, keep an eye on them for being aware of their activities and behavior, but in a way that it does not throw a negative impact on them. They should not feel that you are spying them. By doing so, you may lose their trust and they will get hesitated to share or express their thoughts and feelings with you.
As a result, children will get suffocated by their negative thoughts and suffers from mental health issues like depression which sometimes result in suicide like drastic steps.
As a parent, you have to analyses the behavior of your children that how they are behaving in their good or bad phases of their life, whether they are sharing their feelings with you or not, how much they are open with you or not.
Following are some signs of depression which are found in some children who suffer some mental trauma:
Has she been sad or irritable most of the day, most days in a week for at least two weeks?
Has she lost interest in things that she used to really enjoy?
Have her eating or sleeping habits changed?
Does she have very little energy, very little motivation to do much of anything?
Is she feeling worthless, hopeless about her future, or guilty about things that aren’t her fault?
Have her grades dropped, or is she finding it difficult to concentrate?
Has she had thoughts of suicide? If so it’s crucial you have her evaluated by a mental health professional immediately.
If your child shows more than a few of these signs she may have depression that warrants professional attention. While you can’t make her want to get better, there are some things that you as her parent can do. And it starts with simply being there for her.
Hence, being a good parent means you need to teach your child the moral in what is right and what is wrong. Setting limits and being consistent are the keys to good discipline. Be kind and firm when enforcing those rules. Focus on the reason behind the child’s behavior.
