About : Farhan Akhtar is in a league of his own in Indian cinema. A successful producer, director, writer, singer, lyricist and awardwinning actor, he has made a permanent mark on the Bollywood landscape and helped to change the face of cinema in the subcontinent. Farhan has also launched new talent and continues to look for ways to expand the horizons of Indian cinema. Earlier this year, he won a number of prestigious Best Actor awards for his winning performance in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.Last month, the star was in the capital as a guest at the fifth edition of the London Indian Film Festival, which celebrated his amazing achievements. Eastern Eye caught up with Farhan to talk about his filmjourney, cinema, future plans, why he likes working with new talent, advice he would give young filmmakers and more.
In an interview farhan was asked to advice the new filmmakers who are just starting out : I don’t know what advi ce I can give to any filmmaker. The only thing I can say is to try and stay true to your vision, and corrupt it as little as possible. There are so many demands on you when you don’t have that so-called standing, where people give you the freedom you want to make that film exactly the way you saw it. Despite those commercial demands or creative constraints, if you can still try and retain your original thought, that is a big success.
Studies : He has completed his schooling from Maneckji Cooper school Mumbai and pursued further studies to get a law degree in HR College, during which he has to face dismissal from the institution in his second year due to short attendance. He is very fond of movies so before dropping out his studies he spent few years only just watching movies.
Family–Farhan Akhtar is the grandson of Jan Nisar Akhtar and son of Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani. He has an elder sister Zoya Akhtar who is a film writer and director by profession. Actress Shabana Azmi is his Step-mother. Director Farah Khan and Sajid Khan are his Cousins.
Marriage/Wife- Adhuna Bhabani-After being in a relationship for 3 years both Farhan Akhtar and Adhuna Bhabani got married in 2000 and the couple has two daughters named Shakya and Akira. This is Farhan’s second marriage. His first wife was Riya Jain. But as per the latest reports, the couple has call it quits after 16 years of marriage.
