Hormones for Happiness in Human Being

Asst. Professor, Biyani Girls College People like to believe they are in complete control of their thoughts and feelings, and the idea of hormones can in some way undermine that. The truth though, is that hormones have major effects on almost everything that humans do and feel. This leads to the questions of how hormones affect human behavior. The first step in answering that question is understanding what a hormone is. A hormone is any chemical created by a cell or organ of the body which gives messages to some other cell or organ in the body. In order to receive the message these hormones will combine with a hormone receptor which then sends a signal to the body. Here hormones have been dissucused which have major role in regulation of behavioral and psychology of Human being.
Dopamine is generally associated with the ‘pleasure system’ of the brain, providing feelings of enjoyment and reinforcement to motivate us to do, or continue doing, certain activities. When our dopamine system is activated, we are more positive, excited and eager to go after goals or rewards, such as food, money, education or professional achievements. The shortage of dopamine is a cause of Parkinson’s disease, in which a person loses the ability to execute smooth, controlled movements. Dopamine disorders in the frontal lobes, such as memory, attention and problem solving. Another hormone serotonin is similar in some ways to the synthesis of dopamine. It is a neurotransmitter and primarily found in the gastrointestinal tract (GI tract about 90%) which regulates intestinal movements, blood and the central nervous system (CNS) of animals, including human which contributes in feelings of well-being and happiness.
